TFH Berlin International Center acting as prime coordinator brings in highly experienced project management skills for the successful coordination and control of international ventures and guarantees the smooth collaboration and interdisciplinary communication of the subject-based departments of Architecture and Urban and Environmental Planning involved.

a) interdisciplinary university “center of excellence” for sustainable urban development
In short, the coordinating FH Berlin –University of Applied Sciences has established a convincing profile in Engineering and related Business subjects structured into the six main areas: Building and Construction, Information and Media, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Business Administration and Life Sciences. With special focus on the relevant key area of Sustainable Development of Architectural Construction and Urban planning, TFH Berlin combines the resources of basically three different faculties of “Architecture and Facility Management”, ”Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning” and “Civil Engineering and Geographical Information Systems”, thus creating a “Center of interdisciplinary and international competence and excellence“. The staff colleagues of these areas will actively contribute to the AURORA project providing their outstanding academic potential and long track-record of international project experience. This institutional TFH policy to create competitive pools of professional expertise and excellence underlines the coordinating institution’s feasibility to fully activate the interdisciplinary potential of a comprehensive, diversified group of Architects, Civil Engineers and Urban and Environmental Planners of international standard and visibility.

b) subject based specialist knowledge
In particular, TFH Berlin has established an internationally visible subject authority for the sustainable urban development and planning, especially with regard to environmental issues (environmental impact analysis, eco-balances), infrastructure development (transportation, energy, water provision and sewage water, waste disposal and recycling), modern planning instruments and procedures (indicators, democratic participation of citizens or NGOs) and development of tailored urban planning for developing countries (particular advisory for Brazilian Authorities) (see the CVs of Prof. Hoffjann and Prof. Neumann below).

Moreover, the Architects bring in outstanding expertise for international Project Management for Built Environment (realized by an international Master of Science with the University of Northumbria ranking no 1 in England), comprehensive research and joint practical projects with Chilenian partners (see CV of Prof. Hasselmann and Prof. Junker), besides an academic profile for designing the public urban space (together with the Dutch project partner, Prof. Junker et. al) and the re-construction/restoration and conversion of devastated city areas (Prof. Dr. Pinardi et. Al.)

An internationally experienced expertise from related areas as Geographical Information Systems GIS or Civil Engineering is available when need for backing and completing the set of the practice and target-oriented academic background. (CV of Prof. Heider)
